Write at the Merge, Week 10

writing promptWelcome back to Write at the Merge!

If this is your first time visiting, the quick and dirty about Write at the Merge is that we’re a creative writing prompt that provides you with two prompt ideas. Write a response — up to 500 words — using either or both of the ideas. The link will be open until 11:59 p.m. PST on Thursday night.

This week we’re honoring the genius of Dr. Seuss, who was born on March 2, 1904.  Our two Seussical offerings are an image and a line from one of his books. Happy writing!

“I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues.”

Dr. Seuss, from The Lorax

And because a birthday celebration should include everyone, if you don’t find either of these offerings inspiring, use your favorite Dr. Seuss quote or story as inspiration — just leave us a note letting us know what you chose!

[...] Write at the Merge asked us to use a Dr. Seuss quote in honor of his birthday. My favorite quote that is attributed to him is, “Those that matter don’t mind, and those that mind don’t matter.” This is one of my life’s philosophies and I wish more people would learn it at a younger age. (Just a note, I saw an account that was not really a Seuss quote, but it is widely attributed to him so I’m going with it.) [...]

Linking up for this week’s Merge, but I picked a different quote. I used:

“Today I shall behave as if this is the day I will be remembered.”
