Write at the Merge: Week 1

writing prompt

2012 was a year of changes and new adventures for us as a community. We retired Remembe(Red) and introduced Precipice.

We’ve been thinking for a while now, that it’s time to rethink our weekly prompt.

Now, with 2013 only a matter of hours away, we’re pleased to offer you our new weekly prompt, Write at the Merge. Starting tonight, we’ll be sending out the prompt on Sunday evenings, with the linky open through Thursday night.

Write at the Merge will feature two prompt items—for example, a song and a color, or an image and a word, and a standing 500 word limit. You as writers get to explore what about the prompt inspires you, be it fiction, essay, memoir, or poetry, and link up. We’re not keeping score, because the prompt will inspire everyone in different ways, but we want you to let the two different aspects of the prompt play together in your imaginations.

Take the two inspirations and write at the merge!

For this week, we’re giving you the song below and the word: Wish

**The lyrics can be found here.

You have 500 words, and the linky is open now through Thursday, January 3 at midnight Pacific.

Have fun, and don’t forget to come back on Friday after we close, to read up on your colleagues’ work!

Well ladies and gentlemen, this genius went and deleted her blog. Mercifully, I had a recent backup to restore from, but I did have to recreate three posts. This was one of them. Can you please delete my first link, as it goes into the twilight zone? And if you seem to think you commented already? Yeah. You did. It just got eaten when I hit the wrong bloody button.
